Discover the Wild Side of Your Backyard

Step into the forest and uncover nature’s hidden pantry! The Kanati’s Foraging Class is an immersive, hands-on experience designed to help you confidently identify edible plants and mushrooms growing right around you.

We’ll begin with an engaging presentation, then head into the beautiful Kettle Moraine State Forest – Loew Lake Unit for a guided foraging hike where you’ll learn how to identify species in their natural habitat and harvest responsibly. Every season is different, and what we discover will depend on what nature provides that day — which is part of the adventure.

To wrap up the experience, we’ll gather for a sampling of wild foods, featuring a variety of prepared items that highlight edible plants and mushrooms. This is a tasting experience designed to introduce you to the flavors of the forest and inspire your own future foraging.

Whether you’re brand new to foraging or looking to sharpen your skills, this class offers a memorable day of learning, exploration, and connection with the land.

A hands-on outdoor experience that feeds curiosity and community.

Please bring a light folding chair or camping chair if you’d like to sit comfortably during the sampling portion of the day.
